Garland's Orchards

Camping is one of America’s oldest past times. There is something about being outdoors, far away from civilization and amenities that allows us to find an inner peace. Being one with nature on camping trips often means sleeping bags, tents, cooking over a campfire, lack of hygiene and a ruggedness that not everyone savors.

But what if you could have camping without the hassle of camping? If you could have the same wild beauty and up close experience with nature, minus the yucky stuff, would you be interested? Of course you would! Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge in Oak Creek Canyon Arizona offers you the best of both worlds: comfortable accommodations, luxurious dining smack dab in the middle of the wilderness.

Megann Dastrup, manager at Garland’s believes the interplay between the wild outdoors and the subtle beauty of the cabins on site are what makes Garland’s special: “One of my favorite things about living here and being on premises is how beautiful and manicured the grounds are yet how wild it is. There is a balance between the cabins and grounds we maintain, and the rugged wilderness around us. A stay here with us is very different than a hotel. We get flash floods, bears and get up close to the wildlife that lives here. People get great accommodations but they also experience the wild in whatever way they want to experience the wild.”

Garland’s is constantly mixing luxury with nature. They offer spa package in the spa cabin along Oak Creek. Relax with a soothing massage or facial outdoors with the sound of the creek running past you. Take a yoga class outside and feel the cool breeze on your skin as you move through each pose. The earth is living and breathing in almost every aspect of Garland’s.

You can taste it in the fresh meals served in the kitchen that use homegrown organic produce and herbs from the Garland’s gardens, orchards and greenhouse. You can smell it in the dry logs used to keep the fireplaces aglow in each cabin. You can feel it in the soft, spongey grass you walk on across the grounds. You can hear it in the wind whistling through the trees, and the clucking of the hens and roosters in the chicken coop. You can smell it in the wildflowers that adorn the property. Garland’s brings you to peace with yourself and with the world around you.

Every morning, you can wake up, step outside your private cabin and breathe in the fresh air around you. Breakfast is served daily from 8:00am-10:00am and guests are treated to an always changing menu. The coffee is always hot, and the smoothies are creamy, smooth and fresh.

Birding Retreat

Once you’ve eaten your fill, explore the grounds and walk through the blossoming apple, peach, pear and plum orchards. In the fall, watch as the apples are harvested and pressed into cider. The gardener and orchardist, Mario Valeruz & Rob Lautze, are always on site and will happily give you a tour and answer questions you have about the property.

You have the freedom to relax and experience Oak Creek in whatever way you choose. While some love the spa packages, others love to sit in a lawn chair and enjoy a good book. Garland’s offers peace and quiet; it is a break away from the hectic everyday routine. Guests come to take a break, give their minds a rest and enjoy some worry free time.

No matter how you choose to spend your time at Garland’s it is guaranteed to be a memorable experience unlike any other. To bring you closer to the flora and fauna living in Oak Creek Canyon, Garland’s hosts various events. For the bird lovers out there, Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge will be hosting a birding retreat the week after Memorial Day. Every fall, birding groups come up to Garland’s and last year one group saw over 30 different species during their retreat. This year, the Birding Retreat will be held from May 27-28, 2015 with a morning tour on the morning of the 28th. Experience the beauty of Oak Creek Canyon with this private birding event. Whether you are an experienced bird watcher or are simply curious, all are invited and welcome to attend.
